HDPE Replacement for Water Tanks
HDPE Liner Replacement
HDPE Replacement
With time, even a good HDPE liner will begin to lose its effectiveness due to the movement in the tank structure, long-term exposure to treated water, and repeated filling and draining cycles. Joints start to stress, welds may weaken, and behind the liner, small leaks or blisters can appear. HDPE Replacement is the removal of that aged or damaged liner and the installation of a new HDPE membrane so that the tank wall is once again fully protected. By renewing the liner instead of changing the entire tank, the structural steel or concrete shell is preserved, while the water contact surface is upgraded to a fresh, chemically resistant barrier. The new HDPE liner maintains flexibility during installation and welding, offers strong resistance against chlorine and many common water treatment chemicals, and long-term corrosion protection with excellent UV and impact resistance-helping the tank return to a safe, reliable working condition.
When to Replace HDPE
As a tank gets older, the HDPE liner will quietly take most of the stress from temperature changes, water pressure, and movement at the joints. Over time, small issues start to show up – hairline cracks at the corners, loose or “bubbling” areas on the wall, or stubborn leaks that keep coming back even after patching. You may also notice rust marks, unusual odour, or discoloured water inside the tank. When these signs appear, it usually means the liner has reached the end of its practical life. Instead of spending on repeated repairs, HDPE replacement gives the tank a fresh, continuous lining system. The tank shell can stay in place, but the water contact surface is renewed so it can continue to perform safely for many more years.
